What’s New in 2025? Omni-Well Expands with ROUNDZ and Grappling Division.

As we step into 2025, Omni-Well continues to evolve, bringing fresh ideas and exciting developments to the fitness and grappling community. What started as a vision to blend sports massage therapy, fitness, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is growing into something bigger. Two key areas of expansion are ROUNDZ, our unique circuit-style training, and the development of the Omni-Well: Grappling Division, which is beginning to take on a life of its own. Here’s what’s in store for the new year.

ROUNDZ – Circuit-Style Training for Everyone

ROUNDZ was the initial carnation of Grappling Division, designed by me to improve endurance and conditioning for combat sports athletes and serving military personnel. Its format is round-based, mimicking the intensity and timing of competitive BJJ, MMA, and other combat sports. The original version was a closely kept secret, tested and refined through real-world application, and has proven highly effective in pushing athletic performance to new levels.

For 2025, ROUNDZ is being adjusted to suit everyone, regardless of experience level. Whether you're a complete beginner looking to build your fitness or an advanced athlete needing a structured endurance boost, ROUNDZ will challenge you while delivering a serious endorphin rush. The core principles remain the same, but this new format is designed for general fitness while maintaining the effectiveness that combat athletes loved. Stay tuned for class schedules and opportunities to try it out. First session will be on 2nd March 2025 at Bowen Rd Community Hall, Darlington.

Omni-Well: Grappling Division – More Than Just Private BJJ

What started as a platform for me to provide private BJJ and grappling tuition has grown into something more. Omni-Well: Grappling Division is becoming a small but strong community, built on shared values and a passion for grappling. It has even led to the launch of limited-edition clothing, including hoodies, caps, and t-shirts, available only to those who support us, train together and/or align with the ethos of the division.

The Next Step: Creating a Community Interest Company (CIC) or Charitable Incorporated Organization (CIO)

One of my long-term goals is to transform the Grappling Division into its own entity, ideally a CIC or CIO, with the mission of making BJJ more accessible to Armed Forces members, Veterans, and Emergency Services personnel. The idea is to provide discounted or even sponsored training for those new to the sport.

Crucially, this will be done in a way that supports, rather than competes with, the local BJJ scene—especially RGA Darlington, which gave me my coaching opportunity post military BJJ ''career'', where I had the opportunity to both coach and run 2 different RAF BJJ clubs between 2019-2024. Initially, I considered setting up a program with a different set-up, in a different town under another affiliation that means a lot to me, but after assessing the logistics, I realized it could unintentionally create competition for the custom from local military bases. That’s not the goal here. Instead, the plan has shifted to ensure that our initiative enhances, rather than disrupts, the existing ecosystem.

Long-Term Vision: An Omni-Well Centre

Looking further ahead, the goal is to establish a dedicated Omni-Well centre offering a full suite of services:

  • Personal Training (PT)
  • Sports Massage Therapy (SMT)
  • Sauna and Cold Therapy
  • A Beginner’s BJJ Program

The idea behind the BJJ program is to help complete beginners get started in the sport with proper guidance, ideally with support from the CIC/CIO model. The aim would be to provide a structured introduction to BJJ, including access to essential training gear. Once participants graduate from the program, they would be encouraged to continue their journey at RGA Darlington, where hopefully I'll still be coaching also to offer that continuity.

From a business perspective, I’m exploring ways to make this model sustainable. Could we negotiate discounts for members transitioning into RGA Darlington? Could a small percentage of their membership fees be reinvested into the CIC/CIO as a recruitment incentive? These are ideas that need further refinement, but the overall vision is clear: build a program that benefits the wider community while maintaining strong relationships with existing clubs.

Final Thoughts

BJJ politics and business strategies are relatively new to me. In my nearly nine years of training, I never had to think about these things because Military BJJ operated in a different sphere. However, as Omni-Well grows, I’m realizing that a well-thought-out approach is necessary to create something sustainable, ethical, and beneficial for all involved.

2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year. Whether it’s through ROUNDZ, the Grappling Division, or the long-term vision of an Omni-Well centre, the goal remains the same: to provide high-quality training, build a strong community, and make a positive impact on those who need it most.

If any of these ideas resonate with you, or if you have insights on how to structure the CIC/CIO effectively, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Let’s make 2025 a year of growth and progress for Omni-Well and everyone involved.
